I am ready to get organised for my business and love nothing more than a little planner. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have spotted my love for notebooks and Lists… so I thought that it would be a good idea to start using these planners in my business, as well as in every other area of my life!
Why should you plan ahead? Well, rather than taking a scattergun approach to your social media, wouldn’t it be great to take half an hour at the start of the month and really think about what you want to say to your audience? once you have set out your ideas, then you can refer back to them and remind yourself what you wanted to say – focusing on your main topics and ideas. By including this monthly routine, you will be able to focus on what it is you want to achieve by using social media. you can also use it then to review your progress through the year. A much better plan than just sitting down at your PC and firing up random posts on Facebook because you remembered to!
So how do you use this planner? It’s completely downloadable and customisable – if you download your copy here, use it to work out what your main topics, ideas and themes are going to be for your social media platforms this month. So what kinds of topics do I mean? If you are promoting your professional service, say for example, you are a business coach.. what are your top five skills or services you offer? How do you show your audience you are the expert coach they need for their business? Do you specialise in helping business owners with their finances, their marketing, their legal issues? Only you know what your topics will be.
For my business, my main topics are: how to use social media for business, regular tips on using social media, mini videos on ‘how-to’s’ , reminding people why social media is so great… and so on!
Then think about what your posts are going to be – are you going to share your blog posts, inspirational quotes, questions for your audience? Scribble down your main sources of content- get a good mix of your own content, and content from others within your service area that you think will be of use to your audience. Add in a scattering of inspiring quotes and challenge your audience with some good questions..
Some great resources for online quotes include (my old favourite) Pinterest, www.Goodreads.com/quotes, www.brainyquotes.com. I love www.unsplash.com for free images, and also the free versions you can get on www.canva.com.
Keep a track of what you do each month, and then review at the end of the month to see what has worked best for your business.
